Needle Felted Bear

Hi everyone!

Brr, it's chilly here lately.  How is the weather in your part of the world? Today I have a furry friend to share with you! I've always wanted to create a teddy bear out of wool and I finally did it.  After some trial and error I've come up with this little grey sweetie.

Drum roll please..... here's Mr Bear! I'm hoping to personalize these little friends soon with my alphabet die set (it's still in the mail... boo :P).  I've been trying to put in more effort into Dear Janet Creations so please stay tuned for new and exciting projects.

Mr Bear will be in my Etsy shop on Friday, so please check it out!

Take care,

Janet

A Heart Felt Handmade card

Hi everyone,

I can hardly believe it's Thursday.  Just one more day until the weekend.  Hang in there.

Lately I've been trying to come up with new design ideas.  I've been splitting my time between needle felting and card making, so I had always wanted to incorporate the two.  Yesterday, my Mr C suggested I make a card with a felt heart.  Genius! Why didn't I think of that earlier?

This is the finished product :) a heart felt card for someone special.  I absolutely adore it.

Like what you see? Check it out in my Etsy

10 Minute Craft Dash #31

Hi everyone,

I can't believe it's December already.  It's below zero today in Washington, so it's chilly (burrrr).  Not as cold as Toronto, but cold enough to bring out the puffy Eddie Bauer jacket.

Today I have a card that I created for the 10 Minute Craft Dash on Pretty Pink Posh!  The theme colors are light yellow, bright red, and green.
http://prettypinkposh.com/2013/12/10-minute-craft-dash-31.html

It's my first timed challenge and I must admit it was pretty challenging!  When I hit start on my timer, I realized too soon I was very disorganized.  I wasted precious time wondering... where's my tape?! Where's my ruler...aacck.

Here's what I came up with.  I finished with 25 seconds to spare.  The card was finished in 9 minutes and 35 seconds.  I cut out circles to replicate ornaments and I stamped circles with my trusty "Lots of Dots" stamp set from SSS.  I tried to recreate bokeh of light, but didn't have enough time to make it what I had wanted.  Overall I'm pretty happy :)  I have another Christmas card to add to the collection.

Cheers and stay warm!

CAS(E) Sketch #55

Hi everyone,

Thanks for joining me for this week's CAS(E) sketch.  I just love these card contests because they help me get out of my comfort zone.  Here is my take on the CAS(E) sketch this week:

http://casethissketch.blogspot.com/

Here's my card!
My card was inspired from the sentiment "I love you to the moon and back" from the "Miss you so much" Studio Calico stamp set.  From there I decided to use my distressed inks to make a starry night background.  I added some water to make it look like water colors.  I think it came out pretty well.  The dark to light purple color is supposed to mimic the bars found on the challenge template.  Next, I added a gold embossed moon and some wooden Studio Calico stars as my embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you were inspired :)

Cheers,
 Janet

Lawnscaping Challenge # 70

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by!  Today I'm showcasing a card I created for The Lawnscaping challenge.  The theme is polka dots!

Since I'm new at card making I didn't really have any polka dot paper so I decided to emboss swiss dots onto the card base and also wet embossed gold dots to the blue panel. Next I added a die cut handstamped rose using the Papertrey Ink's Sweet life stamp set.  I was going for a vintage romantic feel :)

Cheers,
Janet

The Sweet Life Handmade Card

Hello all,

Today I got the opportunity to finally use my "The Sweet Life" stamp set from Papertrey Inks.  I was initially drawn to this set because the flowers looked so 3D.  The stamp set comes with multiple stamp pieces that allow you to add dimension to your flowers.  I love how lifelike the roses become.  Mr C almost couldn't believe it was hand stamped.

I was going for a very romantic and sweet card, and this is what I came up with.  I used a light blue, gold, coral and light pink color palette.  I embossed the white card base with Swiss dots and wet embossed the gold dots onto the blue scalloped panel.  The "love you" sentiment is from Avery Elle called "Oh Happy Day".

Enjoy!

Feather Bokeh Card

Hi again,

Woohoo, a second post for the day.  I'm so glad the blog is finally up and running.  I feel like I've been away from blogging for too long.  Last night I randomly stumbled upon this picture on Pinterest.  I was really drawn to the beautiful bokeh, the siluoette of the dandelion seeds and the dreamy feel of the picture.  Isn't this picture gorgeous?  Unfortunately the pinned post wasn't linked to any source so I do not know the photographer.

This is the card I made from the above picture.  I used a combination of Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord distressed inks to create the background.  Next I stamped circles using my Simon Says Lots of Dots stamp sets.  I used a combination of chalk and dye inks.  I love how everything turned out and how dreamy it looks.  I didn't have a dandelion stamp set, so I used feathers instead.  I think it still worked out, however I wish they were slightly bigger.

This is by far one of favorite cards.  I think I'll have to try it again with different color combinations.  Wouldn't it look great in different shades of blue?  The possibilities are endless.

Cheers and enjoy the day!

CAS(E) this Sketch #54

 Hi everyone,

Today I'm sharing the card I created for CAS(E) sketch #54.  The following is the layout for the challenge.

http://casethissketch.blogspot.com

This is the card I created.  I was inspired by an orange, red and blue color palette I had seen on Pinterest.  I think it's such a fresh and funky color combination.  I stamped the vertical lines using the Basic Borders Mama Elephant stamp set.  This is one of my favorite stamp sets ever.  It's so versatile and can be used for any type of card.  I added some glitter dots as well as distressed the edges with brushed pewter.

Cheers and until next time! :)

Needle Felted Rabbits

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my new blog!  I spent last week figuring out a possible layout and color scheme for this new blog so I'm rather sorry for the delay.  I'm still on the fence about keeping my Purple Umbrella blog.  Maybe I'll keep that one as my personal blog and use this one for my handmade creations/contest entries. Either way I'll keep you all updated.

Last week I was inspired to needle felt baby rabbits and I created these little furry friends.  I had a lot of fun during the photo shoot.  My favorite shot has to be the one where they are looking out the window.  Precious! Check them out, they're in my Etsy shop now if you're interested.

It's rainy season here in Washington, so it's rather grey.  That just gives me more time to needle felt.  Next project will be a needle felted moose so stay tuned!  How's the weather in your part of the world?

Cheers,
Janet
