Hi and Hello

Hi everyone,

My last entry for the week before we head into the weekend.   I just wanted to take the time to wish everyone a Happy Lunar New Year! I also wanted to wish the Seahawks luck for the big game Sunday.  Go Seahawks!

In between chores, and my chemistry review, I had some time to make this little card.

I used Lawn Fawn's Smitty's ABCs to stamp the "Hello" on the white cardstock.  Again keeping with the theme of Valentine's Day, I used various shades of pink and red... honestly I think I'm just really liking pink these days! To finish off the card I added some twine, and topped off the bow with a "Hi" embellishment from Freckled Fawn (from the Studio Calico kit: Copper Mountain).  I really love how the pink works with the black cardstock.  :)

I'll be entering this card into the Simon Says Anything Goes with Twine or String challenge as my second card.  Definitely a fun one ;)

Cheers and Happy Weekend!

CAS(E) this Sketch #62

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! :)  Just popping by with an entry for this week's CAS(E) this sketch.

Here's the contest sketch :

 and here's my creation:

Recently a couple of friends have been experiencing many new and exciting things in their lives.  I realized I had no congratulations cards to wish them well on their endeavors.  I figured this was a perfect chance to start.  I used my Lawn Fawn alphabet die set to cut out "Congrats" on the white cardstock.  I was going for a file folder look so I added a little tab die cut piece on top.  I finished off the card with a few blue enamel dots from My Mind's Eye.  I definitely adore the bold blue colors and I hope the recipient will be happy with this card :)

Keep on crafting!

Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge: Twine or String

Hi everyone,

Today I have a card for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-anything-goes-with-twine-or-string/

This week's challenge is all about twine or string.  When I thought about this I immediately thought of my good friend Jessica's beautiful banners from JessMadeThis.  I immediately went to work and came up with this little card.

Sticking to my Valentine themed cards, I used the Mama Elephant "Midnight Letters" to stamp each of the letters in the banner.  Next I used a needle to punch some holes to string the black/white twine.  I finished it off with little buttons to the side.

Hope you enjoy and keep on crafting.

Retro sketches #99

Hi everyone,

Today I have an entry for Retro Sketches #99.  Here is the lovely sketch from their website.  If you click on the picture below you can reach their website as well.

When I saw this layout I knew I wanted to play along.  The little circular cut-out really reminded me of the sun or halo of light. I immediately went to work and here's what I created:

I used my Mama Elephant Lights Out stamp set and stamped the different light bulb elements on vellum.  I've never tried this before and it seemed to work out.  I had to heat set it prior to adhering it to the card.  I picked a rather bright and colorful background.  I wanted that to mimic rays of light.  I finished off with the sentiment.  I had to cut off the word shine on the stamp to make it 2 separate lines.  I finished off with some My Mind's Eye enamel dots to add some color to the white panel.

I hope you got inspired today.  Keep on crafting :)

ME Challenge - January 2014

Hi everyone,

I'm here again with another card challenge entry.  This one is for Mama Elephant's January Challenge.  I've always loved the fun and cute designs of ME so I was excited to give this contest a try. The challenge is based on a photo as inspiration.  This lovely picture brought back happy memories of my own wedding.  I was drawn to several elements of this photo, but the peonies and the silver purse is what inspired my card.

Here's my creation:

Since I'm relatively new to the stamping scene my collection isn't huge.  I thought this would be a perfect chance to stretch some of my stamp sets.  I used the Mama Elephant's Lights out stamp set, and used the light bulb stamp to make my flower petals. I decided to make a gradient of pink to match the color scheme.  Next I added some glitter tape and made a little bow using the ME bow die set.  I used the sentiment "It's your time to Shine" which I think perfectly matches the glitter!

Cheers and keep crafting :)

Runway Inspired Challenge - Dennis Basso

Hi everyone!

How's the weather in your part of the world?  It was warm and super sunny here in Seattle.

Today's blog post is about a card I created for the Runway Inspired Challenge.  I usually love love LOVE looking at the inspirational posts on this site because it's based on fashion.  Some how fashion and cards can go hand in hand.  I decided to participate this week because I couldn't resist designing a card based on this dress.  It's gorgeous, soft, delicate, pastel... sigh, I could go on and go about this dress.

Here's my card based on the dress:

Most of the material used on this card is from the Feb 2014 Simon Says Card Kit. I picked a lovely floral paper to replicate the pastel design of her dress and I added vellum to add some airiness to the card. I white embossed a few flowers and the sentiment "Thinking of you" from the Simon Says Stamp set also entitled "Thinking of you".  Next, I finished off the card with some blue ribbon to mimic her pale purse and a few Hero Arts pearls.  This is by far my favorite card.

Hope you have a good week.  Happy (almost) weekend!
Cheers,
Janet

CAS-ual Fridays: Color Blocks

Hi everyone,

Happy Monday.  I'm here today with a card challenge entry.  I'm really happy today because I found out I was one of the contenders for the last CAS-ual Friday competition.  Although I didn't win, I am still happy that my card was recognized.

Today I have my card for the next challenge which is all about color blocks.

http://cas-ualfridays.blogspot.com/2014/01/cfc126.html

Since Valentine's Day is around the corner, I thought I'd create a card for my dear Mr C.  I stamped speech bubbles onto vellum and then embossed it with white embossing powder.  To bring in the color, I used different shades of pink/red with my Spectrum Noirs.  I wanted to add a bit of glam to the card so I used some gold dots to finish off the card.  The stamp set is from Studio Calico.  I hope my dh loves the card.  He truly supports and encourages me in all my crafty endeavors.

Cheers,

Janet

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

Today I'm here with a card post for CAS-ual Friday's Challenge.  I thought the challenge was a perfect way to ring in 2014.  The challenge is to create a card based on a word that you hope for the new year. My immediate thought was "happy".  To become more happy I have to try to become more optimistic and healthy for the new year.  I also wish that everyone around me will also be happy and healthy.

http://cas-ualfridays.blogspot.com/2014/01/cfc125.html

This is the card I created.  I wanted it to be super bright with a burst of sunshine and stars.  I made a little banner and stamped it using my distressed inks.

HAPPY new year!

Cheers,
Janet
