RIC #54 - Diane von Furstenberg

Hi everyone,

Just stopping by for another Runway Inspired Challenge #54 entry.  This week's entry is a dress from Diane Von Furstenberg.

I just love the bold colors.  I hope my card was able to do justice for this dress.

Here's challenge #54

 Here's my entry:

I decided to go simple this time around and used my Papertrey Ink Happy Hexagons stamp set to replicate the pattern found on the dress.  I then used a lot of black lines such as the hexagon outline as well as the thank you scripts (Studio Calico) to finish off the card.  I used VersaFine Onyx black ink which I absolutely love.  The lines are just so crisp and dark.  The side panel repeats the hexagon outlines with a piece of vellum on top to soften the lines.

That's all for now.  Hope this inspires some crafting.

Take care all,

Janet

Lucy's Cards Sketch Week Day 5

 Hi everyone,

Me again with another card challenge post.  I have another card for Lucy's Cards Day 5 sketch challenge.

This is the day 5 sketch:  I just adore the little sewed detail on the sketch!

http://www.lucys-cards.com/2014/01/lucys-cards-sketch-week-day-5.html

Here's my take on the card.  The little piece of cardstock was die cut with the word LOVE using my Lawn Fawn alphabet set.  Next I went to town with my distressed markers and water colored the little strip.  I really love how it came out.

Lucy's Card Sketch Week - Day 4

Hi everyone,

Just dropping by with a quick blog post.  While reading up on some Hero Arts tweets, I found Lucy's Cards, a blog about paper crafting.  I really loved her sketches so I decided I had to participate.  Lucy has many beautiful card inspirations so be sure to check out her blog.

Here's the Day 4 sketch:

Here's my take from the sketch.  I just love the use of a tag as the focal point for the card.  I made my own tag using a sticker from a Dear Lizzy sticker set and pasted it onto cardstock. I think it came out really well.  I was definitely going for a happy, girly card.  The flower is also from the Dear Lizzy line.

That's all for now! Keep crafting,
Janet

CAS(E) this Sketch #63

Hi everyone,

Happy Monday! We're already into the middle of the month.  My does time fly by.  Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and of course, I couldn't resist creating more Valentine's Day cards.  I think I love pink and hearts way too much ;).

For my card, I decided to play along with this week's CAS(E) this sketch.

Here is the challenge sketch:

http://casethissketch.blogspot.com/2014/02/case-this-sketch-63.html

This is my little creation. I decided to do something really simple this week.  I simply cut out a circle onto some post it tape and masked the card.  I pulled some of my pink pigment and chalk ink and blended them together.  I used a combination of  Lollipop (Mama Elephant pigment ink), Vintage Pink (Ingvild Bolme) and Pixie Pink (Versa Magic).  Next I stamped the "love" script sentiment from Simon Says Stamps Feb 2014 kit onto the circle.  I just love the sweet romantic feel of the card.  Kind of reminds me of pink roses... hint hint wink wink Mr C ;)

Cheers and keep on crafting,
Janet

Retrosketches #100

Hi everyone,

Happy Wednesday! I hope you're doing well where ever you are in the world.

Today's entry is about a card I made for the Retro sketches challenge #100.  Woohoo, congrats on their 100th sketch. :)

The sketch for this week is this fun layout

Here's my take on the sketch:

I really wanted to make a a fun and whimsical card this week.  I decided to make use of all my material from Studio Calico's Copper Mountain kit.  I just love the little whale so I made him the focal point of the card.  The stripes of paper and buttons on the original sketch is represented by my water waves and little fish following the whale.

Hope you play along this week :) Keep on crafting!

RIC#53 Temperley London

Hi everyone!

I'm just popping by with a card I created for the next Runway Inspired Challenge.  After the last one, I've become rather addicted.  I'm truly happy to have been nominated as a Fabulous Fashionista in the last round (Thank you RIC team!)

The inspiration for this week's challenge is this gorgeous purple dress.  The colors are just so rich and beautiful.  I immediately went to work.

http://runwayinspired.blogspot.com/2014/02/ric53-temperley-london.html

This is my creation inspired by the Temperley dress:

I really wanted to emphasize the beautiful flowers and the black lace pattern.  I started by stamping roses from Papertrey Ink's "The Sweet Life stamp set" onto water color paper.  Next I colored them in with distressed ink markers.  I went over them with water and I must admit I'll never get tired of this delicate look.  I finished off with a black strip and a gold embossed sentiment.  I used Hero Arts dye ink in black to stamp the flowers as well as distress the embossed side panel.  Purple is my favorite color, so I just adore this card!

I'll also be entering this card into A Blog Named Hero's Challenge #37 Flowers, where the theme just so happens to be flowers :P

Until next time, keep on crafting.

Janet
