Needle Felted Penguins

Hi everyone,

Happy October.  Fall is upon us now and that means a change in weather and of course pumpkin spice lattes (yum yum).  Anyways, I just wanted to pop by to introduce a few of my new needle felted projects.  I hope you enjoy and if you have time please pop by my Etsy shop (here)

I've always wanted to make a little penguin holding a banner.  After many tries, it finally has worked!

This little penguin holding the star is by far my favorite! I just love the color combinations.  I think I'll have to keep him for myself ;p

Christmas is right around the corner and this little penguin makes me want to set up my Christmas tree extra early.

Take care,
Janet

ric#68 - Manolo Blahnik

Hello and Happy Monday,

It's a start to a new week and that means a new week of crafting.  The leaves are changing colors and the weather is becoming chilly again.  That means autumn is coming.  Bye-bye summer.  Lucky for me this Runway Inspired Challenge reminds me of the hot sun and the warm weather.  Check out the challenge here (Runway Inspired Challenge)

This is the card that I created based on this lovely high heeled shoe.
The overall card base and patterned paper are cork/beige colors to mimic the base color of the shoe.  I   stamped blocks of colors from the shoe and then die cut "hello" using the die from Lawn Fawn.  Next I decided to stamp triangular borders along the tag to add more of the triangular design.  I finished off the card by tying a coral/orange lace ribbon.

Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful day,
Janet

ric#66 - Sportmax

Hi everyone,

It's been awhile since I've posted, but I'm finally back into card making mode again.  August marks a number of birthdays, weddings and anniversaries and that means one thing - card making! I couldn't resist making a card based on this week's Runway Inspired Challenge (check them out by using this link).  I just love the simple, yet pretty inspiration outfit.

Here's my interpretation of the dress.  I stamped 3 doodle flowers on white cardstock using colors similar to the roses.  Then I cut the card stock into two separate panels to allow for the beautiful navy blue card base to show through.  I added a glitter gold button to finish off the card.

Enjoy and have a great Monday!

ric#59 - J. Mendel

Hi everyone,

I'm here with a card that was inspired by this week's Runway Inspired Challenge.  Here's the bold outfit by J. Mendel.

http://runwayinspired.blogspot.com/2014/05/ric59-j-mendel.html

My card was inspired by the beautiful yellowy-green color and bold black lines.  I decided to go with an abstract pattern using some of the colors from the outfit.  With my Simon Says Stamp "Lots of Dots", I stamped the pattern you see on the card.  I added different black details on the pattern as well.  I used a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp "Thinking of you" set.   Who doesn't love a thinking of you card =)?

Cheers,
Janet

CAS(E) this Sketch #75

Hi everyone,

I'm here again with another entry for the new CAS(E) sketch.  Originally I was working on some new tag designs for my Etsy shop, but somehow I ended up making a card for this sketch.

Here's this week's lovely sketch.

http://casethissketch.blogspot.com/2014/05/case-this-sketch-75.html
I just love the sweet little banner.

Here's my take on the sketch:

I just love butterflies and pastel colors so I paired some light green die cut butterflies (Clearly Besotted) with a pale blue circle.  I decided to emboss the circle with some Swiss dots and then add some gold Delicata ink over the raised bumps.  I think it adds a little bit of sweetness to it.  Lastly I used my new washi tape from Freckled Fawn to add the banner.  I had gotten a few grab bags from Freckled Fawn and the selection was wonderful.  Definitely check it out if you need extra washi tape.  Who doesn't love washi tape??

Until next time.  Cheers,
Janet

CAS(E) this Sketch #74

Hi everyone,

How's it going? I'm here again for a card challenge post.  It's been awhile since I've participated in one of these so I'm glad to be back.  I was actually inspired to partake in a challenge after reading my good friend's sister's blog.  Her burst of energy and card designs really inspired me to card make today.  Check out both of their blogs for some more card goodness: Paper and Flair and Silly Things.

Here's the sketch for this week.

Here's my take on the sketch.  Most of the pieces you see in this card are scraps I've collected from my Studio Calico kits.  They are the little advertisement cards that come with each kit.  They are so pretty and well designed that I never throw them away.  Using the scraps I die cut a spiral note page using my Papertrey Ink die.  I also used a left over hello paper piece (Lawn Fawn).  I used some post it tape to mask out the wavy piece and stamped some stars using my gold Delicata ink.

I'll leave you with a little picture of our little furry friend guard dog.
Cheers, Janet

You're the Cat's Meow: needle felted cats!

Hello again,

I'm back with some new needle felted friends.  This time we have some cats.  I've always wanted to make cats because I have so many people in my life who just adore them.  Today I have 2 new cats to introduce to you.  Please welcome, Tabitha the little brown cat, and Greyson with his fancy gold bow.  For these furry friends, I opted to use black beady eyes.  I hope to create more of these little guys in the future.   Any requests? I'd love to hear from you.

Cheers,
Janet
